Was very much looking forward to judging this great little breed. Sadly in males there was a real issue with dentition. Inverted canines are a breed watch issue, as it is a health concern, and I am always very aware of the need to penalize. I very sadly felt I could not sign a Challenge Certificate for any of the males on the day. Im not too bothered about the off tooth out of place but would urge breeders to consider mouths, I am aware its not just a UK issue, but of ignored it will never improve.

I was honoured and particularly delighted to judge at what is the UKs, if not the world’s premier Terrier Show. Overall, I felt that the quality was varied, but I recognise how difficult it is to get bone and substance in a small animal. Good to see lots of sound well moving animals.

Shapely dog with lots of quality. Only 6 months and still very immature, but has good body lines. Lovely straight front with nice tight feet. Moved parallel. Good finish to head but lacks power and strength. Hopefully that will come with maturity.

Exceptional white dog of excellent make and shape. Quality in abundance. Nice size and very much what the standard calls for; a Bull Terrier in miniature. Strong masculine head with lots of fill and depth. Well placed ears. Good tight front, with excellent cat feet. Great spring of rib, good short back and well-muscled hindquarters. Pressed hard for the CC but did not show with quite the same enthusiasm as the winner. Res CC.

Yes, he is on the larger side but he is so full of virtue his quality could not be denied DCC and BOB

Exceptional white dog of excellent make and shape. Quality in abundance. Nice size and very much what the standard calls for; a Bull Terrier in miniature. Strong masculine head with lots of fill and depth. Well placed ears. Good tight front, with excellent cat feet. Great spring of rib, good short back and well-muscled hindquarters. Pressed hard for the CC but did not show with quite the same enthusiasm as the winner. Res CC.

Very sound and well- made brindle dog. Well-shaped head with plenty of fill. Slight mouth fault. Well placed eye. Good tight front and excellent well angulated hindquarters. Shapley bodylines. Moved well.

First of all, I would like to thank the Southern Miniature Bull Terrier Club for inviting me to judge their 12th Championship show. As a founder member of the Club, being at the inaugural meeting 28 years ago in Diane Berry’s house in Little Marlow, Buckinghamshire. I was honoured to be given the opportunity to judge this Championship show. Thank you to the exhibitors for supporting me and for their good sportsmanship. Lovely reach of neck flowing into straight front with neat feet. Really well constructed throughout and balanced. Moved as you would expect, true and with drive. Showed really well in this class but in the challenge she tended to relax too much.
2nd BADLESMERE BUDS OF MAY (MRS M GRAY)
Typy, compact, quality black brindle bitch. Lovely head with super profile and fill. Good mouth. Good reach of neck leading into straight front with a shapely forechest. Well constructed and balanced throughout. Moved better going away and covered the ground. Showed beautifully.

Firstly, I would like to thank Manchester Dog Show Society for inviting me to give my first set of tickets, it was a huge opportunity for me and I loved every minute, secondly, I would like to thank my wonderful stewards who made a world of difference and were extremely helpful and, lastly, I would like to thank everyone who entered and exhibited under me. I was extremely lucky to get my hands on some excellent minis, as ever plenty of super bitches but today I was very pleased with the males where, after a year when there seem to have been so few in the ring, there were several worthy of a CC and the title of Champion.

1st VATAHA HOCUS POCUS (MR & MRS W & C LAMBERT) BP
Brindle and white very promising and typey young dog nicely marked, a good head with excellent finish and correct ear placement, a nice neck into a lovely straight front with cat like feet and ample bone and substance, he wasn’t showing himself off to the best of his ability today and was losing his top line on the move, however he had strong quarters and a good bend of stifle and moved well behind once he got into his stride.
2nd KENLEAP NAVAGIO (MISS & MR M & J SMITH & RYAN)
Black brindle and white very promising a masculine dog, strong head with fill and finish giving him an excellent expression, however I would prefer a little more profile. Good shoulder into a correct topline, well muscled quarters helping him move well around the ring.

A dog I have admired from the ring side and I was excited to get my hands on him. An excellent, very masculine, white dog with black ears. His expression is fantastic with a dark, piercing and perfectly triangular eye, head brimming with fill, his profile is sweeping with lovely finish, just 2 incisors slightly out of line front left. Excellent straight front with plenty of bone into catlike feet with a deep chest, good neck but can lose his topline behind the shoulders when not standing to attention, however, he holds it on the move. Strong quarters with well bent stifles helping him move with drive and purpose around the ring. I’m sure his title can’t be far away and was delighted to award him DCC and BOB.
2nd CH BULLYPINS KONQUISTADOS (MR & MRS A & M LLEWELLYN) RDCC
White dog with a beautiful head, brimming with fill, correct finish and strong profile, another with a good, small and dark eye with a mean expression, mouth is correct. Good bone for size, straight front and lovely feet, decent shoulder but not making the very best of himself today and appearing rather roached over the topline. Shown and presented in excellent condition he was well toned and moved well both ways, powering around the ring. Delighted to award him RDCC

Black brindle, very worthy dog with a strong masculine head with good width depth and fill, a dark triangular eye which is great to see in a solid, slightly more of a sweep in profile would complete the picture – he has a correct mouth. He’s a very well made dog with excellent bone and substance, good neck and topline, which he holds on the move, strong quarters and, moving well both ways and shown in excellent condition. All round a very good dog.
2nd WENGORMICK NO REGRETS (MR & MRS S & K KETTLEBOROUGH)
Masculine white with excellent bone and substance, bigger that the winner and not the strength of head. Mouth is correct and he is well made all through, moving out strongly in both directions.

Solid brindle, I have liked this dog from the ring side many times and wasn’t disappointed when I went over him. Very good for size, but still very masculine, extremely typey with enough bone and substance for his size, his head is packed with fill with a dark triangular eye giving a keen expression, lovely profile and correct ear placement - his mouth is a reverse scissor. Good straight front with good feet and a decent neck, shoulder and correct topline. Another worthy winner, presented in excellent condition.
2nd OAKFAYRE'S STOAT MAJOR (MISS R SCOTT)
Attractive white dog, masculine head having good width and fill, a would prefer a stronger profile, mouth is correct. A little upright in shoulder but front is straight and quarters very strong with tons of second thigh and correct bend of stifle, he really powered around the ring. Well handled and presented in excellent condition.

A proper ‘Tiger’ brindle, really bright red with well defined black striping, he was another dog I couldn’t wait to get my hands on. A real showman who loves his job, he was well handled and shown in excellent condition. Masculine head with width and fill, a triangular dark eye and a sweeping profile, his mouth is a reverse scissor. Elegant neck with a lovely straight front and catlike feet, correct shoulder, which he holds on the move, into a good topline and strong quarters with correct bend of stifle and good tail carriage. To be picky, I would like a little more bone but this doesn’t take away from his masculinity. A strong contender for the RCC

Beautifully marked, rich brindle and white. Strong feminine head with enough arc, width, fill and finish and a neat, dark triangular eye and a correct mouth. Elegant neck into well placed shoulders, a good straight front with ample, round bone and a lovely forechest, decent shoulder and correct top line which she holds on the move. Presented in excellent condition, she is well muscled and this showed on the move, going well in front and powering away behind with strong quarters, she has a correct tail carriage. All round, a very classy and elegant bitch she was a close contender for the RCC, just losing out to the winner on her stronger profile.
2nd RISIBULLY MY KIND OF GIRL (MRS K HULL)
Pretty and elegant tricolour, her head is strong and compact with a lovely profile, correct width, fill and finish, her eye is slightly round and her mouth correct. Long neck and straight front she has a slight roach in her topline which I think was noticeable today as she was a little underweight, I understand she has recently been poorly – glad to hear she is now on the mend. When she pulls herself together, she really does look the part!

1st TOPASBULLY YAROSLAVA (MR R MARTIN) BCC
A classical and well marked brindle and white shown in fantastic condition today and extremely well handled, it was impossible to deny her. Her head is extremely strong with a profile to die for, packed with fill and a super depth and finish, ears are well placed. She has a good, dark and well placed triangular eye, slight mouth fault being just a couple of misplaced incisors but her virtues more than make up for this. She has an elegant neck into well placed shoulders with a lovely straight front with catlike feet, deep strong fore chest and brisket. Her handler really kept her right up on her toes and showing all the time. Excellent bone and substance while still retaining her femininity. Good strong quarters and excellent second thigh she powers around the ring moving well both in front and behind. BCC which I believe is her (well deserved) crown.
2nd GLITTER STARS THEY CALL ME CLEO AT BELCANTO (IMP POL) (MISS SUYON MANOLI)
Very smart brindle and white when you go over this bitch there is so much to like, she’s a coloured who you need to get your hands on and certainly looks better ‘ring side’ from her darker side. Strong yet feminine head with a lovely elegant sweeping profile, a dark and triangular eye giving her an excellent expression, head has width and plenty of fill, she has one instanding canine. She is well made all through, with excellent bone and substance to boot, she has a good neck and correct shoulder, straight front and good top line into strong quarters with a good bend of stifle she moves well behind and in front.

1st GLOSSY BLACK FROZEN EMINENCE (ATCAZ90173SWE) (MS J HEISING) RBCC
Eminence. Well known white, typy and classy with elegant lines, well made all through. She has a lovely feminine head, egg shaped with a sweeping profile and a small, dark triangular eye always impressive on a white giving them a mean expression when looking down their nose. Her head is packed with fill and is beautifully finished she does have a K9 missing from an accident. Elegant and shapely neck into well placed shoulders, a straight front with cat like feel and correct top line into well placed tail. She moved well both ways. In the challenge for the CC she lost out to the winner on condition and showmanship, but I felt her virtues were still sufficient to earn her the RCC over some other outstanding bitches.

Pretty Fawn, beautifully presented and on her toes throughout. Lovely feminine head with sweeping profile, width, fill, finish and a correct mouth. She has correct bone and substance for size, good neck and straight front, a good neck but somewhat upright in shoulder, level topline and good well angulated quarters, moving out well in both directions. A very pretty bitch, constantly on her toes and shown in lovely condition.

1st GLOSSY BLACK FROZEN EMINENCE (ATCAZ90173SWE) (MS J HEISING) RBCC
Eminence. Well known white, typy and classy with elegant lines, well made all through. She has a lovely feminine head, egg shaped with a sweeping profile and a small, dark triangular eye always impressive on a white giving them a mean expression when looking down their nose. Her head is packed with fill and is beautifully finished she does have a K9 missing from an accident. Elegant and shapely neck into well placed shoulders, a straight front with cat like feel and correct top line into well placed tail. She moved well both ways. In the challenge for the CC she lost out to the winner on condition and showmanship, but I felt her virtues were still sufficient to earn her the RCC over some other outstanding bitches.

Pretty Fawn, beautifully presented and on her toes throughout. Lovely feminine head with sweeping profile, width, fill, finish and a correct mouth. She has correct bone and substance for size, good neck and straight front, a good neck but somewhat upright in shoulder, level topline and good well angulated quarters, moving out well in both directions. A very pretty bitch, constantly on her toes and shown in lovely condition.

White This lovely girl strutted her stuff all round the ring! She is 12 years old but doesn’t look it or act it and is in fantastic condition for her age. She still moves well, really powering round the ring and a joy to judge.
