Many thanks to the committee of East of England for the invitation to judge my favourite breed. What lacked in numbers was more than made up for in quality; I was most happy with my final 4. I later learnt my CC winners were father and daughter, plus it was the dog’s third ticket. I found it most inconvenient not being able to handle mouths due to the current Covid rules; I could not always get to look at what I wanted to see! The grass was quite long and the ground uneven in this ring, apologies but this was not under my control.

1st MERLINDAN FLASHBACK (MR D & MRS L MCGREGOR)
9 months black brindle and white still very much a raw baby and needing to drop into his tall frame. He has a dark eye, enough arc to his head, perfect bite with good underjaw, clean muscular neck, good topline, sound quarters and good tailset, moving well all ways. BP

1st OLYMPUSBULYS HORUS OF HARRY (MR & MRS J HARPER)
Lovely tricolour youngster at 9 months, ok for head although I’d prefer a tad more fill, one inclining canine, he’s well bodied up with a good depth of chest. Moved beautifully and true. Rather pink feet.

1st EXTRAVERT IDEALIST AT GRANDOPERA (MR D & MRS E & MISS V CLARK)
A beautiful brindle and white at almost 2½ years, he’s an absolute stunner, perfectly balanced. He has plenty of fill in his shapely head and has a strong underjaw. A super front with more than enough depth, ample bone, a short muscular back, a good bend of stifle and neat feet. He moved well coming but not as good going away. Handled to perfection showing of his many virtues, I was pleased to award him the DCC
2nd CHATTANOOBA CHOO CHOO AEDESTAURUM (MR & MRS J HARPER)
A solid red smut. One I have judged before as a youngster and he has now matured into a lovely, typy dog. He’s a masculine boy with a wicked expression but undershot. He has enough bone, a short back, strong topline but not the quarters of 1. RDCC

1st MERLINDAN FUNACE (MR P D & MS S M KERSHAW & HAKALA)
Brindle and white, she has a small piercing eye on her feminine head although I would prefer a little more strength in under jaw. She has a strong, well-made body and is good for bone and well angulated quarters. She stands on neat feet and moves well.

Solid brindle with enough length to head but I would prefer a little more fill. Topline good but tailset a little high, moved ok.

1st GRANDOPERA EXHIBITIONIST (MR B J & MRS V L FOX)
A beautiful, well-marked brindle and white youngster at 18 months old. So pretty she has an unbroken curve to her well filled head, small, well-placed eyes, clean neck, good angulation with enough length of upper arm and good shoulders. Good spring of rib, strong loin and strength in her quarters. Lovely movement, especially in profile, happy to award her the CC & out moved her father for BOB. BCC BOB
2nd PHUNSIZE DIVA HEDDY (DR A & MR R BENNETT & PICKERING)
Brindle and white with a strong well filled head, good neck, plenty of bone, enough depth of chest, good for substance, a little straight in stifle.

Black brindle and white one I have judged before and the same remarks apply, she has matured into a useful bitch. Still moving well and putting in a good performance.
2nd BADLESMERE BIBI (MR P ENGLISH)
Beautiful white girl, nice curve to her head but a little thick in neck. She has strong, muscular quarters, ample bone and is presented in sparkling condition.

1st CHERRY BOMB GOT A HANGOVER AT GIFFENBULL (IMP AUT) (MRS K & MS J BARR & NOVAK)
Brindle and white another I have judged as a youngster and my, hasn’t she matured well. She's a real “Mini”, very petite but robust, correct bite in her well-shaped head, she stands foursquare and is nicely balanced, so well handled she's very neat, but just not the “finish” of my CC winner RBCC
