BIS ALOUKANNA HOLD YOUR FIRE

I would like to thank the Miniature Bull Terrier Club Committee for inviting me to judge their very special Christmas Show.  What a welcome, a huge banner with my picture and the entry displayed outside, just in case I thought I was in the wrong place! The hall was decorated to within an inch of its life, looking most festive and the gaggle of “helper elves” was a sight to behold.  Lunch was also a super affair, a full Christmas turkey dinner with all the trimmings. I feel a new bench mark in show lunches has been set. The arrival of Father Christmas caused a stir and he did a sterling job of judging the junior handling.
I would also like to thank my most efficient ring steward, Gordon for all his help.
The entry was good but sadly the number of animals absent was high. Although this is a miniature version of the bull terrier, a number of animals were over the measure although many were perhaps just an inch or two over (sorry I still work in old money). Good expressions were also lacking due to “round eyes” but on the plus side there was an abundance of good movers, lots of good mouths and super temperaments.

1st ALOUKANNA HOLD YOUR FIRE (MR M DODWELL)
A very typy, cobby black brindle dog with a lovely head, super curved profile and filled right up. Good length of neck, short back and well angulated hindquarters. He is slightly over the measure. Enough substance and bone for his size. His movement is parallel both ways and he covers the ground with power and drive.  All in all he is a very well presented, smart chap with a big personality. BD BIS

1st GRANDOPERA FRANKENWEENIE (MR & MRS N J LITTLE)
Compact white dog with a strong, well filled head. Incorrect mouth. His expression was spoilt a little by a round eye rather than the classic triangular shape. Neat, well placed ears. He has good bodylines, short backed with well angulated quarters. Would have liked to see a bit more bone. He moved extremely well, wide and parallel from the rear, covering the ground with power and drive.

Post Graduate Dog Entries 3 Absentees 1
1st LAFENICE JOEY TRIBIANI (MISS K A LEWIS)
Very smart, elegant white dog. Pleasing profile to his head but a little narrow in the muzzle when viewed from the front. Lovely neat, well placed ears. On the downside he has a mouth fault and he carries his tail a little too high. Shapely bodylines with a nice tuck up give a pleasing picture when viewed from the side. He has plenty of bone for his size and he moved out with pace, parallel both going away and coming back.
2nd AURMARU HOMEWARD BOUND (MR D J RATCLIFF)
White dog with black markings on both ears. His head was long but lacking a little in profile. He has a perfect mouth. Would have liked to see a bit more reach of neck. His bodylines will improve with maturity and he was shown and presented well.

1st BADLESMERE BEAU REGARDE (MS E BRAILSFORD)
Tall and shapely brindle and white dog with good bone. Long and well shaped head, nice profile and a perfect mouth. Very neat and well placed ears which he failed to use to best effect. Lovely, straight front with enough bone and well angulated quarters. He had good, tight cat like feet. His movement was a little close behind but he covered the ground with pace and drive.  He was handled well and shown in beautiful condition RBD
2nd AMINIRUMPUS RED PANDA (MR & MISS J & S J KOCABA & WHITE)
A compact red and white, very typy dog with a super, short and filled head.  Incorrect mouth. Well shaped and correctly placed ears. Short back with good bone but not the straight front of No1.

1st CH IR CH BADLESMERE BRABAZON IN KOFYN (MR & MISS M & M PRESLAND & VINCENT)
Well bodied white dog who at nearly 11 years of age had a very sprightly bounce in his step. Clearly enjoying his day out, he moved out very well with plenty of drive. Strong, pleasing head and well placed ears. Short backed with good bone and lovely well shaped hindquarters. It is a particular pleasure to see the “old ones” being exhibited as they seem to enjoy all the attention.
2nd EL ADON-M WILD FAMY (ATCAT00915CZE) (MISS KATINKA MAJOR)
Lovely bodylines and in great condition for eight and half years old. Would have liked more profile and a better expression. He had nicely shaped hindquarters. An excellent showman with a very sweet disposition.

Very pretty red bitch with feminine bodylines. Short head with a pleasing profile and enough fill. Slightly round eye spoils the expression a little. Perfect mouth. Under the measure.  Good front with a short back and well shaped hindquarters. She moved well and showed with enthusiasm. Promising baby at just under a year old.  BP
2nd BADLESMERE BLACKSTAR (MR & MRS P & N DRAPER)
Brindle girl shown in lovely condition with well shaped bodylines, good front, nice width to forechest and good length of neck. Lovely curved profile to head. Would have liked a bit more angulation to hindquarters.

1st DUVESSA NORTHERN SOUL (MR F SILL)
Very smart, upstanding white bitch with a brindle eye patch. Pleasing shaped profile to head but a little narrow finish to the muzzle. Perfect mouth. Good bone, neat tidy feet and well shaped hindquarters. Moved very well both ways.
2nd ORCADIAN PRINCESS FOR THRYDINGS (MISS J E MILNER)
A very feminine red and white bitch. Good well shaped head with neat, correctly placed ears. She is slender with rather immature bodylines at the moment but at only 9 months old she has plenty of time to mature and fill out. Lovely, neat and tight cat like feet.

1st QUAYARDSON LADY WILLOW (MRS & MISS S & J RICHARDSON)
Small, very compact, white bitch with a black mark on her left ear. Nice profile to head but could benefit from a little more fill under the eyes. Well shaped and correctly placed ears. Perfect mouth. Good front, well up on her tightly shaped toes. Very neat, short backed with lovely shaped and angulated quarters. Would have liked a bit more bone. Moved a little close behind but was comfortably under the measure. Super temperament, lively but amenable. Well handled. RBB

2nd BULLYPINS MYSTIQUE INTO LARONBELLE (MR & MRS A & A TWYMAN)
Very smart and elegant black/brindle. Nicely shaped profile to head but would like to see more width to muzzle. Super, well shaped ears. Good reach of neck, lovely straight front with well shaped feet. Slightly long in back. Well handled and shown in super condition.

Super, typy red and white bitch, nearly 9 years old. Compact body shape, good front, short back, lovely shaped and angulated hindquarters. Short, well shaped feet. Super head with a lovely profile and plenty of fill thoughout the muzzle, slightly round eye. She was carrying a little bit too much weight today but her quality and type shone out. BV
2nd GRANDOPERA DOT COM (MR & MRS & MISS D & E & V CLARK)
Tall, black brindle bitch who nearing her 12 birthday was the oldest “grande dame” in the class. With super front, lovely length of neck and well shaped hind angulation. Good, neat feet. Nicely shaped head with neat ears, well placed.  Excellent presentation in showmanship and condition.
